Needing 10,669 People, South Sulawesi Election Commission Begins Socializing The Recruitment Of PPK And PPS Candidates For The 2024 Election

MAKASSAR - The General Election Commission (KPU) throughout South Sulawesi requires as many as 10,669 people to become part of the Adhoc Agency, namely officers from the District Election Committee (PPK) and the Voting Committee (PPS) to assist KPU's work in 24 urban districts facing simultaneous elections 2024.

"Today, November 20, 2022, we are starting to socialize and open registration for the recruitment of prospective PPK and PPS members simultaneously in 24 urban districts," said South Sulawesi KPU Member Upi Hastati Hamid, as quoted by Antara, Sunday 20 November.

PPK recruitment, said Upi, will take place from 20 November to 16 December 2022. While PPS will start from 18 December 2022 to 16 January 2023. And for KPPS officers at TPS it will start one month, estimated in January 2023 before voting day 14 February 2023.

She said the total number of PPK members needed was 1,555 people spread across 311 sub-districts throughout South Sulawesi, with five officers per sub-district as members. As for PPS members, 9,144 people are needed spread across 3,048 villages and sub-districts with three officers per sub-district and village. In total, 10,669 people are needed.

Regarding the main requirements for PPK and PPS member candidates, she said, having knowledge of Information Technology (IT), being able to operate computers, laptops, and understanding the use of applications. Maximum age of 55 years, Indonesian citizen, at least graduated from high school, not a member of a political party, and has no history of comorbid diseases, such as heart disease, cholesterol, cancer, lungs, and diseases related to the body's immunity.

"We want PPK and PPS members to be healthy and not clueless, understand technology so they can adapt, given the experience of the past elections. Because, in the 2024 election, more work will be done on the use of technology. For the written test selection process, we will use the CAT system ( Computer Assisted Test)," said the former member of the Barru KPU to reporters.

In addition, the registration process for candidates for the KPU ad hoc body uses the KPU Member Information System application and the Ad Hoc Board (SIAKBA) for the 2024 Election. So from the start, the recruitment model has used a digitalization system.

"KPU district cities have also prepared Help Desks to help prospective applicants obtain recruitment information, report findings and support selection results. This is in line with Law number 7 of 2017," Upi added.
