Good News For The People Of West Java! Kertajati Airport Has Already Started Recording Umrah Flights
PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) said that Kertajati Airport in Majalengka, West Java, is again serving Umrah flights starting today (Sunday, November 20).
PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the opening of Kertajati Airport for Umrah flights was aimed at supporting the ease of Umrah pilgrims from West Java to leave for the Holy Land.
"AP II hopes that Umrah pilgrims from West Java can feel more comfortable and closer through Kertajati Airport to leave for the Holy Land. All aspects at Kertajati Airport have been prepared to provide the best service for Umrah pilgrims," Awaluddin said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, November 20.
Awaluddin said the opening of Umrah flights at Kertajati Airport was thanks to the full support of the Ministry of Transportation and the synergy of all stakeholders.
The Umrah flight this Sunday was used by Garuda Indonesia using an Airbus A330 flight number GA 902.
Previously, Umrah flights had been operated from Kertajati Airport, namely in 2018 and 2020.
Meanwhile, AP II Director of Operation Muhamad Wasid said that the opening of Umrah flights at Kertajati Airport was also to support Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
He said flight traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport was currently increasing, including Umrah flights which experienced a significant increase.
With the opening of Umrah flights at Kertajati Airport to serve pilgrims from West Java, it will help the operation of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
"This is in line with the concept of a multi-airport system run by AP II, where one airport and another support each other in terms of operations and services," said Muhamad Wasid.
Furthermore, Garuda Indonesia Operations Director Tumpal Manumpak Hutapea said that the direct flight of Kertajati Airport - Jeddah is expected to be an optimal travel solution so that it can increase the enthusiasm of the people of West Java in planning worship trips.
The direct flight of Kertajati Airport - Jeddah, which is connected to Jakarta - Jeddah flights, carried approximately 224 worshipers, who departed from Kertajati Airport at 13.45 WIB, "said Tumpal Manumpak Hutapea.
