2024 Young Voters Almost 60 Percent, KPK: If All Are Honest, Safe We

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the 2024 election would be dominated by young voters. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), 60 percent of the younger generation will vote so they must have integrity.

"In 2024, from the results of BPS, there will be almost 60 percent of young voters," said Deputy for Education and Community Participation of the Indonesian KPK Wawan Wardiana in a written statement, Saturday, November 19.

The spirit, continued Wawan, must also be held by young people. Their attitude will determine Indonesia's journey ahead.

"The potential of youth to make elections honest and with integrity (very big, red). Because if 60 percent have honest integrity to carry out elections, we will be safe," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Community Participation Development Kumbul Kuswidjanto said young people must be able to report allegations of corruption, especially those that occurred during the 2024 General Election. However, this reporting must be of high quality.

This request arose because many reports were submitted to the anti-corruption commission but could not be worked on. The reason is that the information is invalid.

"Young people are trained to be able to make reports if they see or know of criminal acts of corruption," he said.

"So far, many reports are not of high quality or even a lot of information on corruption crimes but there is no source of reporting," concluded Kumbul.
