Fugitive Bali Bombing Terrorist I Arrested By Densus 88 In Lampung

JAKARTA - The Special Detachment (Densus) 88 has arrested one suspected criminal terrorist named Zulkarnaen in East Lampung Regency, Lampung.

Based on the information received, Zulkarnaen who was involved in the Bali Bombing I was arrested on Thursday, December 10 at around 19.30.

He was arrested after being a fugitive for 18 years. When the arrest took place, no evidence was found by the authorities when the arrest was carried out.

When confirmed, the Head of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Inspector General Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono, confirmed the arrest of the fugitive in the terrorism case.

"Yes (arrested, red)," he said when confirmed by reporters, Saturday, December 12.

Furthermore, Argo explained that Zulkarnain was the commander of Askari Jamaah Islamiyah when the Bali Bombing I incident occurred.

In addition, he also played a role in creating a Khos Unit which was a Special Taskforce involved in a number of acts of terrorism such as the Bali Bombing and various religious conflicts in Poso and Ambon.

For your information, the Bali Bombing I was a bombing incident in a number of places in Bali, to be precise on 12 October 2000. There were three places where the bomb exploded.

The first explosion occurred at Paddy's Pub and Sari Club (SC) on Jalan Legian, Kuta, Bali. Meanwhile, the last explosion occurred near the United States Consulate Office.
