2 Times Absent When Called As A Witness, Rizieq: I Have Never Been Anywhere

JAKARTA - The Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Rizieq Shihab, admitted that he never went anywhere even though he was absent twice from the police summons as a witness.

He said that he had been at his residence at the Islamic Boarding School Headquarters, Megamendung, West Java.

"I am always at the Islamic Boarding School Algokultrual Headquarters, I never go anywhere. That's where I live," Rizieq told reporters at the Jakarta Police Headquarters Building, Saturday, December 12.

Even if he leaves his residence, he admits that he only goes to Petamburan, South Jakarta or Sentul, West Java to visit his family.

"Every now and then I go down to Petamburan, I go down to Sentul to visit my children and grandchildren," he said.

Before being named a suspect, Rizieq was absent several times from police questioning. The police stalked Rizieq so that his movements were monitored.

In the aftermath of this stalking, 6 members of the Special Laskar guarding Rizieq Shihab were shot dead by the police. They were given strict action for attacking police officers.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya had named Habib Rizieq a suspect in alleged violation of the health protocol. In addition, there were five other people who were also named suspects in the alleged violation of protocol at Habib Rizieq's celebration.

The other five people are Haris Ubaidillah as committee chairman, Ali bin Alwi Alatas (committee secretary), Maman Suryadi (FPI commander and security officer), Sobri Lubis (person in charge of the event), and Idrus (head of the event section).

Rizieq was charged with Articles 160 and 216 of the Criminal Code. Article 160 of the Criminal Code concerning Incitement to Violence and Not Complying with the provisions of the law, with the threat of six years in prison or a fine of Rp 4,500.

Meanwhile, Article 216 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code concerning Obstacles to Legal Provisions. The threat is imprisonment for four months and two weeks or a fine of Rp. 9,000.
