Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, Ready To Hit The Smartphone Market In The Middle Of 2020

JAKARTA - Samsung is preparing to release a successor to the Galaxy Fold folding screen phone, in the near future. It is not yet known whether this South Korean company will use the same form factor as its predecessor.

Launching TechRadar, Wednesday, January 29, leak after leak also came one of them from the tweet of Max Weinbach, a gadget analyst. Through his Twitter account, he revealed that Samsung's latest generation of folding screen phones will have an 8-inch screen when the phone is stretched out.

Besides the screen, Weinbach also got a leak regarding the camera sector, where the Galaxy Fold 2 will have a 108 MP main camera, exactly the same as the Galaxy S20 Ultra. However, there is no news yet about how many cameras this foldable cellphone has, the current Galaxy Fold generation has a total of six cameras.

Claiming to have leaked from Bloomberg, Weinbach explained that the cellphone will also use a Snapdragon 856 processor. The screen protection itself uses an ultra-thin layer of glass and not plastic like its predecessor. This is the same as what will be done by Apple, where the iPhone 12 will also use glass as the base material for the screen.

Along with its wider appearance, the Galaxy Fold 2 may also be Samsung's first foldable phone to be equipped with an S-Pen, and has a 5G network.

Weinbach also suspects that it is possible that the Galaxy Fold 2 will be showcased in the second quarter of 2020, or around the beginning of summer together with the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Asking about the price, of course, Samsung will not sell this second-generation folding cellphone that it is proud of at a cheap price. Weinbach estimates that the Galaxy Fold 2 will sell for approximately USD2,000 or the equivalent of Rp.28 million.

It seems that Samsung is targeting millennials as well as business people for the sale of the Galaxy Fold 2, it can be seen from its wide design and has a capable camera.

Based on the results of research by the IDN Research Institute and the Alvara Research Center last year, smartphone users in Indonesia still rely on sophisticated camera features as their best cellphone choice. Seeing this, it seems that sales of the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will be in demand, even though the price is quite cheap.
