Jeff Bezos' Cellphone Was Hacked, Facebook Accused Apple Of Being Hacked
JAKARTA - Recently, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' cellphone was hacked. An investigator believes that Bezos' iPhone cellphone was hacked after he received a video file via WhatsApp.
As quoted from LiveMint, Wednesday, January 29, Facebook blamed Apple's operating system for the hacking of the cellphone belonging to the world's first richest man. Allegedly, the 4.4MB file contains a malware.
Vice President of Global Affairs & Communications Facebook, Nick Clegg said that he doesn't blame WhatsApp, because the application has end-to-end encryption that is guaranteed about its security.
"Sounds like something. You know, what they call operating, is operated on the phone itself. Nothing can happen when messages are sent on the way, because it's end-to-end encrypted on WhatsApp," said Nick Clegg in an interview. with the BBC last week.
Meanwhile, Clegg also compared this hacking case with opening a malicious e-mail. It assumes that it only lives when the user opens it.
A report from FTI Consulting, a company that has investigated Bezos' cellphone, explained that after the video file was received, the cellphone began sending a number of data, including his intimate messages with Lauren Sanchez, his lover.
Clegg also suspects that something must have affected Bezos' mobile operating system.
"You can be sure that end-to-end encryption technology can't, unless you have a handset, or you have a message on both ends, it can't be hacked," he explained.
Until now, there has been no clear response from Apple regarding Facebook's statement. However, this could happen not only on Jeff Bezos' cellphone. So far, Apple is famous for its device operating system that is so secure.
Regarding the attack experienced by Jeff Bezos, there is actually no messaging application that can be said to be safe, including Line, Telegram, and Facebook Messenger that are claimed to be secure.
To solve this problem, VOI can summarize several ways to prevent your WhatsApp from being hacked like the one experienced by Bezos.
Update Application
Periodically this must be done frequently to avoid malware infection, because every day the developer always carries out feature updates as well as updating the application's security system.
Install Anti-Virus
Now it is not difficult to find a dedicated anti-virus developer for mobile phones. Although malware authors will continue to try to find security holes, at least these anti-virus applications can provide warnings and even prevent them massively.
Do not open files arbitrarily
If a friend or relative sends an unclear file, don't open it quickly, because it could be that the file has been implanted with malware. If possible, you can ask what file they sent it.
Use an Application PIN
This is useful so that no ignorant people peek at or open applications on your cellphone, because hacking can be done through anything other than sending files via short message applications.
Not Just Receiving Calls
If malware can be embedded in a file, it is different from spyware that enters through the call feature and will have a severe enough impact, where hackers can take over the operating system on Android or iOS.
Do not stop there, spyware not only steals conversation data, but the malicious system can also infect users when picking up WhatsApp calls from the attacker's number.
