JAKARTA - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero) or Pelindo 1 has increased vigilance and anticipation of the spread of the corona virus to Indonesia through international ports in the Pelindo 1 environment.

Pelindo 1 has international passenger terminals located at Tanjungpinang and Tanjung Balai Karimun in the Riau Islands Province, Dumai in Riau Province, and Tanjung Balai Asahan in North Sumatra Province serving international passengers from Singapore and Malaysia (Malacca, Johor and Port Klang).

Meanwhile the ports that serve import cargo are Belawan Port, Belawan Container Terminal (TPK), Perawang, Sei Kolak Kijang, Dumai, and Lhokseumawe, with the countries of origin of cargo (imports) generally from Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, India, and China.

VP of Public Relations of Pelindo 1, Fiona Sari Utami, said that all port branches within Pelindo 1 have coordinated intensively with the local Port Health Office / Health Office. Pelindo 1 together with these agencies conduct joint checks on embarkation and debarkation passengers at each port branch.

Pelindo 1, said Fiona, supervised foreign crew / crew members leaning on port branches and tightened supervision and control over all operational activities, especially at international ports.

"In several areas of the Pelindo 1 passenger terminal, a thermal scanner has been installed to detect body temperature in anticipation of the spread of the corona virus, such as at the Tanjung Pinang, Tanjung Balai Karimun and Dumai Passenger Terminals," said Fiona, in a statement quoted on Thursday, January 30.

Furthermore, Fiona said, monitoring and inspection of passengers started from the pier to the entrance and exit. The Port Health Office (KKP), Customs and Excise, Quarantine, Immigration, and the Ministry of Transportation through the Port Authority and Harbormaster Office and other related agencies will also continue to be alert and coordinate intensively with Pelindo 1 in all passenger terminals and international ports.

Fiona added, inspection activities to crew / crew at the international port branch are also being improved. KKP officers carry out intensive inspections before loading and unloading activities are carried out, where these inspection activities are not only carried out when the issue of the corona virus is endemic, but routine activities are carried out in accordance with the procedures applicable at the port.

"When the ship is docked at the dock and before carrying out loading and unloading activities, KKP officers will carry out health checks on the ship. In addition, field officers both at the passenger terminal and at the dock have been advised to be more vigilant and always wear masks and gloves," explained Fiona. .
