Australian Open 2022: Gregoria And Putri KW To The Second Round, Chico And Shesar Fall

JAKARTA - Women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani continued their steps to the second round of the 2022 Australian Open.

Gregoria and Putri qualified after compactly defeating Sydney Tjonadi and Soniia Cheah in a two-game live match at the Quay Center, Sydney, Wednesday, November 16 afternoon.

Victory was easier for Gregoria to record who defeated the host representative Tjonadi. He won with a striking score of 21-4 and 21-6.

Meanwhile, Putri played quite strictly with the final score of 21-19 and 21-15 against representatives of Malaysia, Soniia.

In the second round, Gregoria will face Thailand's representative, Supanida Katethong. On paper, Gregoria still has a 4-1 win-loss record, with last win at the Indonesia Open last year in Bali.

Meanwhile, Putri will undergo a heavier test in the second round because she will face the fourth seed from Japan, Nozomi Okuhara. The two have never faced each other before.

Men's singles Christian Adinata also secured a second-half ticket after a win easily over vice hosts Ephraim Stephen Sam.

Indonesia also added representatives in the second round through the men's doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. The pair went to the second round after beating Chang Ko-Chi/Po Li-Wei.

Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto and Ikhsan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay also advanced to the second round.

Unfortunately, the single tickets failed to be obtained by Shesar Hiren Rhustavito and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.
