Creators Can NOW Attach Audio Up To 60 Seconds To YouTube Shorts
JAKARTA - So far, not a few creators have complained about the ability to add music to YouTube Shorts, because music or sound added to the video can only last 15 seconds, even though Shorts has a duration of up to 60 seconds.
But now, it looks like YouTube is overcoming the problem. YouTube says that most of the music in Shorts will be available in a duration of up to 60 seconds.
"We are realizing your request to be able to use audio longer than 15 seconds on Shorts videos. You can use 30-60 seconds of music for most original songs and audio," wrote pengulis, Google support team on the website.
If you want to use audio longer than 15 seconds, YouTube recommends you change your video duration to 60 seconds.
"The audio select tool will display audio durations that can be used from each song or video (15, 30, or 60 seconds) and the duration of your video recording must be changed to 60 seconds in order to use audio longer than 15 seconds," he explained.
In addition, unlike before, now content creators can do a "remix", or sample, up to 60 seconds of sound from other videos, not just 15 seconds.
Even so, YouTube noted that maybe some audio will only be available in 30 seconds, due to the ongoing licensing restrictions.
Over the next few weeks, YouTube creators will start seeing expanded options to add music to this video in YouTube apps for iOS and Android.
"This update started rolling out today, we look forward to the content you create with longer audio," the announcement concluded.
