Government Ensures Jiwasraya Customer Refunds Starting March 2020
JAKARTA - The Jiwasraya Commission VI of the DPR RI's working committee (Panja) held a closed meeting with BUMN Minister Erick Thohir and also the directors of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya to discuss the health of the state-owned company.
At the age of the meeting, Erick Thohir explained, the government continues to strive to provide protection to Jiwasraya customers. He emphasized that Jiwasraya customers will receive certainty regarding the refund in March.
"We from the Ministry of BUMN are the same as the people's representatives, Mr. President is also the same, how do we start to provide solutions for the initial steps in March," he said, when met at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, 29 January.
Erick did not explain in detail what the intended solution was, even though the media crew had urged him. The head of BUMN only said that the most important thing was that there were concrete steps for customers.
"Yes, definitely (overall). The time to save something is only per portion. The important thing is that the customer has certainty. Now, if the options are only concrete steps for the customer (not there), what is the option," he explained.
Meanwhile, member of the Commission VI Jiwasraya Panja, Andre Rosiade, revealed that in essence the government is able to start paying off the Jiwasraya policyholders' installments.
"I can't possibly leak the results of the meeting. Because the meeting is closed. What is certain is that the government will be able to pay the end of March, just waiting for the approval of the Ministry of Finance and OJK," said Andre.
Andre suggested that the public should wait for the official government announcement regarding this matter in March. According to him, this option cannot be published to the public because it is still in the form of a plan which must also be coordinated with the Ministry of Finance and OJK.
"The Minister's option is not only his domain. As a state-owned company, it must involve the Ministry of Finance, OJK, and others. Of course it must be discussed and coordinated with other ministries. So it needs a process, it is mature there. After that it is sent to us, then we learn We will count the options again. Hopefully by early March we can see the options, "he said.
Panja Jiwasraya Commission VI will oversee to ensure that the government does not just give hope to customers. Andre said that the panja will carry out a supervisory function so that this case can be resolved.
"The Panja is to ensure, supervise, supervise that the Jiwasraya case can be resolved. We will continue to guard it so that there is an official government decision on when to pay, what options will we guard," said Andre.
