Blockchain4Ukraine And VAU Create A RoadMap For Web3 Development And Promotion For Ukraine

JAKARTA - Blockchain4Ukraine, a group of Ukrainian pro-crypto lawmakers and a group of Ukrainian Virtual Assets (VAU), revealed a joint roadmap to promote and develop Web3 in the country. Reported by regional media, the document was signed by co-authors on November 14.

Roadmap proposes a series of steps to promote Web3, such as launching a regulatory sandbox for blockchain and Web3 projects, creating land and real estate registrations backed by a national blockchain, preparing a "blockchain plan" to rebuild the country after the war, and integration of Ukraine into the European blockchain community.

The VAU and Blockchain4Ukraine also intend to work on an independent sovereign identity model project and to find ways to implement blockchain into Ukraine's health care and education system.

The list of potential partners from the roadmap includes civil society and non-governmental organizations as well as business and scientific communities. Groups working on roadmaps will set up a set of laws to promote their initiatives at legal levels.

In June, Ukraine became the third country outside the European Union to join the European Blockchain Partnership, an initiative from 27 EU member states to provide cross-border public services. At that time, VAU CEO Konstantin Ermolenko expressed Ukraine's interest in running the European Blockchain Service Infrastructure test node and a case of using cross-border public service piloting based on blockchain technology.

In March 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law regarding the country's first major cryptocurrency, a bill on Virtual Assets. The bill designated Ukraine's National Securities and Stock Market Commission and Ukraine's National Bank as the two main regulators of the crypto market.

Since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, Ukraine has managed to raise more than 100 million US dollars in cryptocurrency donations through the government-curated Ukraine Crypto Fund.
