Densus 88 Anti-Terror Trace Terrorist Funding Using The Charity Box Mode
JAKARTA - Densus 88 Anti-terror will explore the terrorist network Jemaah Islamiah (JI) mode which uses charity boxes as a source of funding. This mode was only revealed after the suspected JI network terrorists were arrested.
"Densus 88 will collaborate with investigators to see, meaning that what is found or evidence is there we will later develop, we evaluate what the modes are," said Head of Public Relations of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono to reporters, Friday. December 11th.
Through the development of investigations, Densus 88 will later map and identify terrorist groups. That way, the movements of the terrorist groups are increasingly legible.
"Later, if there is such a mode, there will be whose network and so on, the Densus will be investigated," said Argo.
"Then the Densus investigators will evaluate the existing events," he continued.
The method of collecting funds by the JI terrorist network has only been revealed in the last week. The police revealed at least two modes were used.
Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigejen Awi Setiyono, said two modes were used, namely by utilizing charity boxes and business entities owned by individuals or belonging to JI members.
"The misuse of the function of the charity box funds that we found was located in minimarkets in several areas in Indonesia," said Awi.
