Blasphemous Cristiano Ronaldo: Don't Consider Gary Neville A Friend, Call Roy Keane A Good Person
JAKARTA - Cristiano Ronaldo loudly called his former Manchester United teammate, Gary Neville, deliberately criticizing himself for popularity. He also emphasized that Neville was not his best friend.
Ronaldo's criticism was when he refused to play as a substitute in the match against Tottenham Hotspur. In an interview with Piers Morgan which later went viral, Ronaldo also gave a reply.
"Criticism is easy. I didn't know there was work on television that just threw criticism to make it more famous. I really didn't understand," Ronaldo said in the interview, as reported by The Sun, Tuesday, November 14, 2022.
"I think they took advantage of it because they weren't stupid. I'm the number one person to follow in the world. This is not a coincidence," he added.
In addition, Ronaldo also revealed the reason why he did not greet or approach Neville when he was a committee for the match between the Red Devils against West Ham United, last October. At that time Ronaldo, who had just emerged from the players' dressing room, came to the location of the pandit standing on the sidelines.
Apart from Neville, at that time there were Louis Saha and Jamie Redknapp. However, the former Real Madrid player only hugged Saha and Redknapp and ignored Neville who was standing between them.
Ronaldo said his actions were because Neville was not a close friend. "We never had dinner together," Ronaldo replied.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo's different views were related to the figure of another former MU player, Roy Keane. He considered Keane a 'good person' and was one of the team's captains he idolized.
Apart from Keane, Rio Ferdinand is also considered a good partner. This praise is because the two names on several occasions often provide a defense for Ronaldo.
"It means a lot because of them, I was in the dressing room with them. They were part of my journey in football too," he said.
"As I have said many times, Roy Keane to me is my best captain. Rio Ferdinand helped me a lot. He's my neighbor, I'm his neighbor. So very, very good," Ronaldo added.
