Supporting The 11.11 Shopping Festival, Alibaba Cloud Presents Efficient, Innovative, And Environmentally Friendly Technology
JAKARTA - Alibaba Cloud, a leading global cloud service provider, excels in its mission to support the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival, thanks to its high-performance computing and innovative technologies.
By leveraging the improvement of self-developed infrastructure, the company sees 8% year-on-year savings in computing costs per resource unit, from April 1 to November 11.
"The area and in it the application of cloud technology during 11.11 years is once again displaying Alibaba's best cloud and technology practices, both through fundamental architectures such as self-owned technology that supports high performance computing and database products, as well as XR (extended reality) technology that consumers and live streaming technology face," said Li Cheng, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Alibaba Group in a release received Tuesday, November 15.
Cheng added that the company intends to continue to implement this proven capability to better serve its customers and help them become more efficient, innovative, and more environmentally friendly in their respective digital transformation journeys.
Cloud-native innovation
This year's 11.11 festival is backed by Alibaba Cloud's special processing unit for the Apsara Cloud operating system. The enhanced infrastructure system significantly increases the efficiency of computing, storage, and networks in data centers that support the festival, while reducing network latency.
The cloud-native Alibaba Cloud database product also significantly expands the consumer shopping cart capacity more than double, from 120 items to 300.
ApsaraDB for Redis Enhanced Edition (Tair), a database service in cloud-based memory for companies, supports new functions such as product clustering and sorting, allowing consumers to set their shopping carts according to their own preferences.
Innovative Technology
Alibaba's technology in 3D modeling utilizes neural radiance field (NeRF), a neural network technology to generate a new look from complex 3D scenes.
Using automated 3D space manufacturing technology from the research institute Alibaba DAMO Academy, virtual street shopping can be built, featuring more than 700 products out of 70 brands including 30 internationally recognized franchises, such as the iconic Hello Kitty Sanrio, and the Hollywood Minion franchise.
11.11 Greener
In addition to cloud computing solutions that help reduce energy consumption, Alibaba Cloud's five large-scale data centers across China have also doubled the amount of clean energy used to support 11.11 this year compared to last year.
More than 32 million kilowatt-hours of electricity used by Alibaba Cloud to support 11.11 this year come from renewable energy, an average increase of 30% every day compared to last year.
