At B20 Summit, Jokowi Pamer Indonesia's Economic Growth: Outside Of War, Food Crisis, But Indonesia Remains Able To Grow
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) showcased Indonesia's success in maintaining economic growth to grow positively in the midst of the weakening world economy. This was conveyed by Jokowi at the B20 Summit of Indonesia, in Bali. Jokowi said, Indonesia should be grateful because economic growth in the past two quarters grew positively. In the second quarter of 2022, the Indonesian economy grew 5.44 percent. Meanwhile, in the third quarter of 2022, Indonesia's economy was recorded to grow 5.72 percent. Not only that, Jokowi also mentioned the government's success in controlling inflation. Jokowi said, in September because the increase in inflation's fuel price (BBM) rose to 5.9 percent but in October inflation was already able to fall at 5.7 percent. "The pandemic still exists, there is a war, there is a food crisis, there is an energy crisis, there is a financial crisis, but we should be grateful that Indonesia in the second quarter still grew 5.44 percent and in the third quarter we grew even stronger in 5.72 percent," he said, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, November 14. The former Governor of DKI Jakarta also quoted the talk of the International Monetary Fund Implementing Director or the International Monetary Fund (IMF) of the Indonesian economy. Crystallina said that Indonesia is a bright spot for the world's economic security.
"The IMF Managing Director conveyed that Indonesia is one of the bright points in the midst of the world's economic security. Therefore, a big strategy that I have often conveyed, we continue to carry out consistently," he said. The strategy in question is downstreaming and industrialization. Jokowi emphasized that it is no longer time for Indonesia to only sell natural resources (SDA) in raw form. "We really have to stop selling raw materials to get added value in the country. Good with regard to income for the state, both related to job creation," he said.
