6 Days Towards Qatar's 2022 World Cup: Marcus Thuram Fills In The Last Slot Of The French National Team Squad, Displace Kimpembe
JAKARTA - Marcus Thuram has officially entered the French national team squad for the 2022 World Cup. Borussia striker Monchengladbach as well as the son of former kind chicken team player, Lilian Thuram, completed 26 players who were brought to Qatar.
Marcus was summoned by US defender Monaco Axel Disasi. Their summons was confirmed by the French Football Federation (FFF) on Monday, November 14, 2022.
Thuram has so far played four games for the French national team. He was last included in the French squad at Euro 2020 which was held last year.
He was called to join the team that will leave for Qatar after scoring 10 goals in the Bundesliga this season. The number that puts him in second place on the German goalscoring list.
Meanwhile, Disasi joined the squad after centre-back Paris Saint-Germain Presnel Kimpembe was absent due to a hamstring injury.
France came to Qatar with the status of defending champion after winning the title at the 2018 World Cup in Russia by beating Croatia.
Didier Deschamps' squad will start efforts to defend the title against Australia in the Group D match on November 22 before facing Denmark and Tunisia on 26 and 30, respectively.
