Three Groups Of Toy Curanmor Users Arrested
JAKARTA - The police have arrested 11 suspects of theft of motorbikes (curanmor) who often act in Jakarta and its surrounding areas, two of whom are collectors of stolen goods. The suspects were divided into three different groups, namely, Johar Baru, Lampung I and Lampung II.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said the three groups of thieves had their respective territories when they were in action. They always target vehicles with minimal supervision.
"First, the Johar Baru group, almost every time they work (in action) are always in the areas of Central Jakarta and East Jakarta. Second, the Lampung I group acts in the vicinity of Central and West Jakarta. Meanwhile, the Lampung II group acts around Tangerang," said Yusri. Jakarta, Wednesday, January 29.
In addition, every time they act, they break the lock of the fence if the vehicle that is being targeted is in the garage of the house.
They also use toy firearms to frighten their victims. However, the firearm was issued if the attempted theft became known to the residents.
"Groups sometimes frighten victims with firearms, it turns out that the senpis are replica weapons," said Yusri.
The eleven suspects were arrested in different locations. From the results of the investigation, these three groups were the perpetrators who had stolen dozens of times.
Kasubdit Ranmor of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Aszhari Kurniawan added, at the time of his arrest, several of the perpetrators tried to fight back. Thus, the officers took decisive action to incapacitate them by shooting them in the leg.
"The perpetrators of the curanmor have been arrested 11 people, 9 of whom carried out measured decisive action on their feet," said Aszhari.
In addition, to sell stolen motorbikes, the suspects used social media Facebook. The goal, to get rid of their butki is a thief.
"The way to sell them is using social media Facebook. Those efforts are to obscure themselves," said Aszhari.
For their actions, 9 motorcycle theft suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning Theft and were threatened with seven years in prison. Meanwhile, 2 custodians were charged under Article 480 of the Criminal Code with the threat of four years imprisonment.
