Wijaya Karya: The Progress Of The Construction Of The Kuwil Kawangkoan Dam In North Minahasa Has Achieved 97 Percent
Deputy Manager for the Kuwil Kawangkoan Dam Project, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, PT Wijaya Karya (Persero), Bismayoedi W said the physical progress of the dam construction had reached 97 percent.
"Almost finished, hopefully it can be completed according to the target by the end of the year," said Bismayoedi in Manado, quoted from Antara, Saturday, November 12.
The ongoing work is completing the peak of the dam, the cultural travel area and the landscape area of the dam management unit facility.
He said, after the inundation and finishing work were carried out, the largest dam after the Toraut and Kosinggolan dams in Bolaang Mongondow Regency would be inaugurated.
"The plan is that after it is completed, Mr. President Jokowi will inaugurate it, hopefully the construction will not be hampered," he said.
Bismayoedi explained that the main function of building the dam in the Tondano River channel is to reduce flooding that often occurs in Manado City.
"Approximately from this dam it can reduce the volume of flood water by 50 percent," he said.
In addition, the mini-hydro power plant has also been prepared, the utilization of which will be regulated by the Ministry of PUPR in the future.
This dam will also provide raw water for Mana City in North Minahasa Regency and Bitung City including the Bitung Industrial Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Likupang Tourism SEZ, Minahasa Regency.
"The following benefits can be an alternative tourism," he said.
