In West Papua, The Provincial Government Pays 80 Thousand BPJamsostek Participants
JAKARTA - The West Papua Provincial Government bears contribution payments for around 80 thousand participants of the Social Security Administration for Employment (BPJamsostek) from groups of vulnerable workers in the province.
Head of West Papua BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Mince Watu explained, currently only the West Papua Provincial Government, Raja Ampat Regency and Sorong Regency are responsible for paying BPJamsostek participant contributions for vulnerable workers. Even in Raja Ampat, it is now entering its third year.
"In Raja Ampat 20 thousand workers are vulnerable to contributions being borne by the regional government and now they are entering their third year, Sorong Regency is approximately 5 thousand workers and the West Papua Provincial Government has 52,317 workers today," he said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 10.
He explained that there are already several districts and cities in West Papua that have regional regulations on the protection of vulnerable workers, including Sorong District, Raja Ampat, Sorong City and Fakfak. Meanwhile, Manokwari, Kaimana and Tambrow districts are in process.
His party wants 100 percent of vulnerable workers in this province to receive protection. Coordination will continue with local governments.
To maintain compliance with the contributors, his party cooperates with the Attorney General's Office. When there is a problem, the AGO is ready to provide legal assistance and assistance.
"For the local government so far, it has been very obedient. Dues are paid regularly every year," said Watu.
He explained, in this participation, workers will get many protection facilities.
If you have a work accident, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will cover medical expenses. If he dies due to a work accident, his party will provide compensation through the heirs.
The compensation given is 48 times the wages if you die, funeral costs of IDR 10 million and periodic compensation of IDR 12 million. If the person concerned has children, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will provide scholarships for two children until they graduate from college.
"If a participant dies due to illness or suicide, we will still provide compensation of Rp. 42 million," he said again.
