Mango Season Will End, Traders Sell Mangoes For IDR 8,000 Per Kilogram In South Jakarta

JAKARTA - A number of fruit traders at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta sell mangoes at relatively cheap prices starting from IDR 8 thousand per kilogram (kg) towards the end of this week's mango selling season.

"It's about to end the season now, now it's the last sale, it's over," said one mango seller, Ridwan, at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 10.

Ridwan and a number of other fruit traders sell several types of mangoes, one of which is the most common mango arum manis.

Traders divide the price of mangoes into two groups, namely Rp. 8,000 per kg for medium size, some for Rp. 10,000 per kg for larger sizes.

According to Ridwan, if the selling price of mangoes at Sunday Market is Rp. 8 thousand, then at the retail level outside Pasar Minggu, it can be sold for Rp.

"If the price is IDR 8,000 at Pasar Minggu, those selling on the side of the road can be IDR 10,000 per kg," he said.

Mango traders collect mangoes directly from Kramatjati Central Market, East Jakarta. The difference in selling price between the two markets is not much different, because it is also a center for selling fruit.

Apart from mangoes, traders also sell various other fruits, such as dragon fruit, priced at IDR 5,000 per seed for small sizes and IDR 10,000 for large ones.

Almost all types of fruit that are often consumed by the public are in Pasar Minggu, to be precise at the Built Location (Lokbin) behind the Pasar Minggu complex.

There are salak pondoh sold for IDR 10,000 per kg, papaya IDR 5,000 per medium sized seed, then there are watermelons, melons and bananas at various prices.
