JAKARTA - The food and beverage industry (mamin) grew 3.57 percent in the third quarter of 2022. The record was higher than the same period last year, 3.49 percent.
"In the same period, the food and beverage industry contributed 37.82 percent to the GDP of the non-oil and gas processing industry, making it the sub-sector with the largest GDP contribution," said Director General of Agro Industry at the Ministry of Industry Putu Juli Ardika in his statement, Friday, November 11.
Despite being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the food and beverage sub-sector is still able to grow and contribute to the growth of the non-oil and gas industry to reach 4.88 percent.
Putu said that in January-September 2022, food and beverage exports reached 36 billion US dollars, including palm oil, while imports of food and beverage products in the same period amounted to 12.77 billion US dollars.
"This results in the balance of trade in the food and beverage industry which shows positive value," he said.
For this achievement, he also expressed his appreciation to the players in the food and beverage industry in Indonesia and various parties who are still enthusiastic about developing the food and beverage industry amidst global uncertainty.
"The government continues to support the efforts made by stakeholders related to the food and beverage industry to increase productivity and expand its market," added Putu.
Previously, on November 9, 2022, Putu Ardika opened the 22nd SIAL Interfood Exhibition which will take place at the Jakarta Expo Center until November 12.
The holding of this exhibition shows the great interest of food and beverage industry players to continue to expand their market at home and abroad. This can be seen from the number of participants in the 2022 SIAL Interfood Exhibition which reached more than 750 companies from 20 countries.
In the exhibition, the Director General of Agro Kemenperin participated by establishing a Cocoa Pavilion covering an area of 54 square meters, which consisted of 10 business actors in the cocoa and chocolate processing industry. This participation is a series of Commemorations of Indonesian Cocoa Day (HKI) Chocolateku, Budayaku, Indonesiaku.
In 2022, the HKI commemoration will raise the theme Towards Indonesia as a Sustainable Kakao Producer & Consumer.
