Championship Club Manager Becoming A New Southampton Boss Replaces Ralph Hasenhuttl

JAKARTA - Southampton has officially confirmed Nathan Jones as their new manager. He replaced Ralph Hasenhuttl who had just been fired by the club.

The 49-year-old Wales tactician left Championship club Luton Town to take on his new role at The Saints with a three-and-a-half-year contract duration.

"I am very proud to be given this opportunity," Jones said as quoted by BBC Sport, Thursday, November 10, 2022.

The deal to bring Jones to St Mary's has been verbally approved on Monday. Jones will bring assistant manager Chris Cohen and first-team coach Alan Sheehan.

Before the official announcement was made, Jones was seen appearing in the stands as Southampton won on penalties against Sheff Wed in the third round of the Premier League Cup on Thursday morning.

"I've known a lot about the club since the time of The Dell (Stampton's old headquarters) until moving to St Mary's. This is an amazing football club," he said.

Jones will face a tough challenge in his first match as coach of The Saints. The reason is, he immediately faced the Liverpool giants at Anfield Stadium on Saturday, November 12.

Currently Southampton still occupies the relegation zone in 18th place in the standings with a collection of 12 points from 14 matches. The result that made Hasenhuttl expelled from the coaching chair.
