JAKARTA - Madura United goalkeeper Muhammad Ridho admitted that he chose to avoid taking part in an intercity football competition (tarkam) in order to avoid the risk of injury.

After all, Madura United coach Rahmad Darmawan has instructed his team to ask permission before grazing in the tarkam competition.

"Coach Rahmad Darmawan has said, if there is a player who participates in the park, he must first get permission, so that the player knows that he is still a Madura United player. As a substitute, in order to maintain fitness to compete, Ridho often serves invitations from various communities to appear in fun football matches or fun football.

"Many communities invite to play football in Jakarta. I am helped because it means I can go back to learning like ball feelings, touch and match situations. That's very important especially for me as a goalkeeper," Ridho said.

According to him, in contrast to non-goalkeeping footballers, a goalkeeper's touch of the ball can disappear within five days if he does not practice.

The plan is for the competition to be held again starting February 2021 after 2020 implementation was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
