Call PSG Ketar-ketir Met Bayern In The Champions League Round Of 16, Nagelsmann: They Are NotENT Against Us
JAKARTA Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann believes Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) must have been busy meeting his team in the last 16 of the European Champions League for the 2022/2023 season.
Bayern and PSG are certain to face each other early after the draw results held yesterday. This will be a big match to increase their big name status in Europe.
Nagelsmann said PSG definitely had concerns about meeting Bayern even though they had a line of star players. Moreover, Die Roten passed the group stage without losing.
"We went through a perfect but unappreciated group phase [with the opponents we got]. The same goes for Paris [Saint-Germain]. They won't be happy that they are facing us," Nagelsmann said, quoted by Bayern website, Tuesday, November 7.
During the preliminary round, Munich appeared strong despite occupying the hellish group with Inter Milan and Barcelona. Nagelsmann's squad successfully picked up all the matches with a win.
PSG are also unbeaten in the group stage, winning four and drawing twice. However, Benfica's 6-1 win over Maccabi Haifa on the last matchday saw Christophe Galtier's side fail to take the top spot in the group.
Despite having a better record, Nagelsmann did not seem to feel confident in taking sides with his team because he met PSG directly. However, after all, he admits that it's only natural that it happened because this is the most elite competition.
"They are tough opponents, but we have faced tough opponents during the group stage. They are tough opponents, with world-class players. However, this is the Champions League," he said.
PSG will act as host for the first leg match on February 15, 2023. Bayern then host Les Parisiens at the Allianz Arena on March 9.
