The Ministry Of Communication And Information Office Was Ransacked By The AGO Regarding The Alleged BTS Corruption

The Office of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) today was searched by a team of investigating prosecutors from the Directorate of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) related to alleged corruption in the Base Transceiver Station (BTS).

The Head of the Legal Information Center at the Attorney General's Office, Ketut Sumedana, said that his party did not only conduct searches at the Ministry of Communication and Information, but also at the PT Adyawinsa Telecommunication & Electrical office related to cases of alleged corruption in the provision of 4G BTS infrastructure and supporting infrastructure packages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 BAKTI Kominfo in 2020-2022.

"The search was carried out at the Kemenkominfo office and the PT Adyawinsa Telecommunication & Electrical office. The search was carried out on the person concerned because he was a vendor of the provision of the project," said Ketut in his statement, Monday, November 7.

The results of the search, the AGO confiscated documents and electronic evidence related to the case.

"During the search, several important documents allegedly related to the handling of the case were found," said Ketut.

"Currently the team is evaluating and deepening based on the documents found," he added.

As previously reported, Jampidsus decided to increase the status of handling cases of alleged corruption in the BTS infrastructure provision project at the Ministry of Communication and Information to the investigation stage last week.

The decision to increase the status of case handling to the investigation stage was made after investigators conducted a case title and examined around 60 witnesses.

The five project packages handled by the Ministry of Communication and Information BAKTI are in the 3T (outermost, underdeveloped and remote) areas, such as Papua, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Sumatra, and NTT.

Based on the search results, the project was initiated in late 2020 and divided into two stages with a target of 7,904 blankspots and 3T until 2023. The first stage, BTS stands targeted at 4,200 locations completed in 2022 and the rest completed in 2023.
