Police officers have arrested two suspects in the Malaysian network of methamphetamine drug dealers, in Palembang City, South Sumatra (Sumsel).Palembang Police Chief Kombes Mokhamad Ngajib said the two suspects had the initials SU (39) and AM (20), residents of Jalan Kemang Agung, Kertapati, Palembang.Both were arrested by the Opsnal Unit II team of the Palembang Police Narcotics Investigation Unit during an ambush operation in the Sungki Market area, Tuesday morning.During the ambush operation, a chase broke out between the police and the suspects, until one of them, suspect SU, was paralyzed with a shot in the leg.The police searched the suspect and managed to get evidence of two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine as they received information.The evidence is packaged in Qing Shan green tea plastic which is stored under the suspect's motorcycle seat. According to Ngakb, the suspect admitted that he had been a drug dealer for the past five months.The suspect's investigators said they got the methamphetamine directly from a network from Malaysia some time ago. Then, the methamphetamine is planned to be circulated by the two suspects to all corners of Palembang City.“ Currently, the suspect is being held at the police headquarters and is undergoing examination by investigators,” he said, accompanied by the Head of Drugs at the Palembang Police, Kompol Ivanry, to reporters in Palembang, Antara, Wednesday, October 2.Ngajib added that his party will communicate with the police in other areas to trace the suspect's networks, considering that this case is cross-border drug trafficking.For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 114 and/or Article 112 in conjunction with Article 132 and Article 127 of Law (UU) Number 36 of 2009 concerning Drugs, with the threat of a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
