Mohamed Salah Please Liverpool Not DECreased Again After Winning Over Napoli

JAKARTA - Mohamed Salah hopes Liverpool will not slump again after successfully defeating Napoli in the last match of the 2022/2023 European Champions League group stage.

The Reds rose from bad results domestically by scoring a dramatic 2-0 victory over Napoli at Anfield Stadium, Wednesday, November 2 this morning. Salah and Darwin Nunez scored two goals late to secure three points.

This result marks Liverpool returning to winning ways after the defeat in the English Premier League against Leeds United last weekend. For this reason, this Egyptian striker also hopes his team can continue to maintain positive results.

"Winning against one of the best teams in the world is the best feeling. We have to continue. This is a good result that will give us more confidence for this competition and the league," Salah said, quoted by Euro Sport, Wednesday.

Liverpool, who was a finalist in the European Champions League last year, qualified for the knockout stages of the season as runners up despite Napoli both collecting 15 points.

The British giants had to settle for second place because they lost head to head with the Partenopei. The reason is, in their first meeting, the Italian representatives managed to win with a landslide score of 4-1 at the Diego Maradona Stadium last September.

Even though it is safe in Europe, Salah and his friends in the league are still far from the chance to win. The reason is, so far they have only collected four wins from 12 matches that have been played.

They suffered four defeats and four draws in eight other matches. The result left them still in ninth place in the standings with 16 points.

"We played a good game. We had the ball faster and also won the ball quickly. We didn't perform well in the league, but it will encourage us and hopefully we can win more," Salah hoped.

After securing a ticket to the last 16 of the Champions League, Liverpool's journey in the league will be tested again this weekend. The reason is, they will face the hosts Tottenham Hotspur who are currently still in third place in the standings.
