JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Idham Azis ordered all his staff to increase security. This order was issued after the incident occurred when six special laskar were shot by the police for carrying out an attack on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road.
The Chief of Police's order is contained in a telegram numbered 873 / XII / PAM.3.3 / 2020 signed by the Assistant Chief of Police for Operations Inspector General Imam Sugianto dated December 7, 2020.
"Yes, that's right, the TR from the Chief of Police was signed by the Assistant Chief of Police, as a form of direction from the National Police Headquarters to the ranks to increase vigilance and preparedness in responding to current developments," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono to VOI, Tuesday, December 8.
There are 11 points contained in the Kapolri order. One of them is to alert the Brimob Anti-Anarchy forces in areas close to FPI supporters.
"In order to increase preparedness and prepare Anti-Anarchy Brimob troops in their territory there are pockets of supporters and members of the FPI," was quoted as saying in the TR.
In addition, the National Police Chief asked his staff to increase security at the Command Headquarters (Mako), Police Posts, Dormitories, to the Police Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.
The National Police Chief, General Idham Azis, also interfered with all leaders to direct the guard personnel to wear safety devices when on duty.
"Give instructions to all members of the guard to wear helmets, then vests are bulletproof and armed," the police chief instructed.
All members of the police are asked to improve their security and personal safety while on duty. This effort is to anticipate things that are not desirable.
Previously, six members of the Special Laskar guarding Rizieq Shihab were shot dead by the police. They were given strict action for attacking police officers.
This firm action by the police began with a police investigation regarding the schedule for examining Rizieq Shihab. This is because the police received information that there would be a mass mobilization.
But during the investigation process by following Rizieq's movement, members of the Polda Metro Jaya were attacked.
According to the police, the attack took place on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road. The attack was started with a special army car which stopped the police car.
Then, about 10 of the special laskar attacked the members' cars using firearms (senpi) and sharp weapons (sajam). Until finally the police returned the shots. As a result, six people died at the location. Meanwhile, four other troops fled.
