Sarah Michelle Gellar And Selma Blair Recreate Cruel Intention Kiss With A Touch Of 2020
JAKARTA - Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair recreated the iconic Cruel Intention kiss for the MTV Movie Awards.
Cruel Intentions was released in 1999 and immediately became a favorite of queer teens when Kathryn (Gellar) and Cecile (Blair) shared a kiss. This film immediately made queer people aware of their sexuality.
More than 20 years later, the couple re-enacted the famous scene in a previously recorded video at the MTV Movie and TV Awards: Greatest of All Time, which aired on December 6 yesterday.
Gellar and Blair spoke to viewers at home after their famous scene was awarded the Greatest of All Time: Legendary Lip Lock award.
"I think the reason this kiss echoes for so long is not just the value of the initial shock, but because it is a catalyst for many young people to help them become aware of certain aspects of their sexuality and help make people feel comfortable about who they really are," says Blair. in the video.
“This also presents a paradigm shift to a new dynamic towards acceptance in pop culture. And it's also very hot, "Gellar added.
"So as a special thank you, we wanted to get it back here, for you," Blair said, before the stars leaned across the table to share a kiss.
But that hot moment was quickly cut short as Gellar and Blair realized they were being separated by a screen because of COVID-19. The two of them try to recreate their passionate scenes while being separated from each other.
Closing the video, Gellar says: "Stay safe MTV, and 2020: over soon."

Gellar and Blair have remained close friends over the years since their kiss on Cruel Intention caught the eye.
In June, Gellar marked Blair's birthday by sharing photos of them kissing on stage after they received the "Best Kiss" award at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards.
"Since I have to be six feet away from you today (and wear a mask), this is the closest I can get to giving you a birthday kiss," Gellar wrote.
A few days later, Gellar shared a photo of himself and Blair sharing a kiss, with Gellar wearing a face mask, and captioning it: "I got my kiss."
