Jin BTS Shows Single Debuting The Astronaut Bersama Coldplay In Buenos Aires
JAKARTA - Singer Kim Seok-jin or known as Jin BTS from K-pop idol group Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) appeared as a guest star at a Coldplay concert in Buenos Aires on Friday (28/10) local time to feature his solo debut single debut, "The Astronaut" with the British rock band.
As broadcast by Yonhap, Saturday (29/10), Jin appeared from the opposite side of the main stage after being introduced by band vocalist Chris Martin during the show.
The concert location was filled with screams from music fans as soon as the South Korean singer went on stage. Some of the audience looked surprised while covering their mouths with their hands.
Jin at that time wore a denim, a gray knit with a diamond motif, and a matching dark jumper. He performed the song "The Astronaut" with his pink microphone and ran to the center of the stage to hug Martin.
"The Astronaut", a pop-rock genre song Coldplay wrote. Jin participated in writing the lyrics. He expressed his love for ARMY, or the name BTS fans.
Jin'smain voice is accompanied by a soothing acoustic guitar sound creating a special song atmosphere.
Previously, Coldplay collaborated with BTS for a single, "My Universe," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart when it was released in September last year.
"The Astronaut" has sold more than 700,000 copies over the day after its release, Big Hit Music said, citing data from Hanteo Chart.
This marks a huge sales figure for the albumsingle-track.
"The Astronaut" also topped the top iTunes charts in 97 countries around the world, including the United States, Britain, Germany, and France, on Saturday (29/10) at 09.00.
The music video for this song that tells the story of an astronaut who accidentally landed on earth has also been watched more than 17 million times on YouTube at 14.00.
After completing promotional activities for "The Astronaut", Jin will leave the world of music temporarily because he has to undergo military service. He became the first BTS member to register for military service.
