It Turns Out That The Exhumation Process For Victims Of The Impact Tragedy Will Be Carried Out, Komnas HAM Is Libated

Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Choirul Anam said he had received an invitation from the National Police to be involved in the exhumation process of two victims of the deadly tragedy of Kanjuruhan Malang.

It was later discovered that the exhumation process would be carried out after the family had refused had changed its decision. They again submitted an autopsy request through the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).

"We received the information. We also received an invitation from the police to participate in the exhumation," Anam said when confirmed, Saturday, October 29.

Based on the invitation received, the exhumation process will be carried out on November 5 next week.

Apart from that, said Anam, Komnas HAM will support this exhumation step. Moreover, this method was done to find a bright spot for the main cause of the loss of hundreds of lives.

"In principle, we support the family's steps. Hopefully this will be one of the bright points of the incident," said Anam.

The National Police previously claimed that the families of the victims of Kanjuruhan refused the autopsy process. This certainty is the result of communication by Polri investigators, East Java Police, together with the Independent Fact Finding Joint Team (TGIPF).

"Last Wednesday, investigators and TGIPF communicated with their families. However, until last night, the family was not willing to carry out an exhumation for their son," said Dedi, at the East Java Police Headquarters, Surabaya, Thursday, October 20.

But Inspector General Dedi said his party would still wait until further certainty regarding the willingness of the victim's family to carry out an autopsy.

While the possibility of other victims' families being willing to be autopsied, Dedi stated that he was still communicating it.

"The TGIPF team is still communicating with the family again. We are still looking and listening first whether there are (other families willing to be autopsied). But again don't assume, just wait for further processing," he said.
