Allegedly Missing Concentration, Elderly Killing By A TransJakarta Bus
JAKARTA - An elderly man with the initials FNR (62) died after being hit by a TransJakarta bus on MH Thamrin Street, Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, on Friday, October 28, evening. The reason is suspected that the driver lost concentration while driving.
"The victim died under treatment," said Head of Traffic Laka Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kompol Edy Purwanto in his statement, Saturday, October 29.
The deadly incident began when a TransJakarta bus with police number (nopol) B 7003 SGX driven by S (33) drove on MH Thamrin Street from Kebon Sirih to Blok M.
Arriving at the scene of the incident, precisely at the Kebon Sirih Traffic Light, the bus driver allegedly lost his concentration when he was about to turn. So, the bus he was driving hit the victim who was walking.
"It is suspected that because he was not careful and concentrated when he was about to turn the direction, he hit a pedestrian on behalf of FNR who was walking from the east to the west, causing him to fall," he said.
As a result of the incident, FNR suffered injuries to his head and legs. He was rushed to Tarakan Hospital, but his life could not be saved.
Until now, the exact cause of the accident is not known. Police are still investigating the deadly incident.
