Mayweather Will Face YouTuber Logan Paul In Next Year's Exhibition Battle
JAKARTA - Floyd Mayweather announced last Sunday that he will hold an exhibition boxing match against the famous YouTuber Logan Paul at an undetermined venue early next year.
No details were released regarding the former boxing champion's latest exhibition, apart from that it will take place on February 20, AFP reported Antara on Monday.
43-year-old Mayweather has not had a serious boxing match since fighting Andre Berto in 2015, the same year he fought Filipino champion Manny Pacquiao.
In 2017, Mayweather stopped mix martial arts fighter Conor McGregor, who had never boxed professionally before. That unbalanced bout saw Mayweather easily close his overall boxing streak to 50-0.
A year later, Mayweather staged another widely derided exhibition against kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year's Eve which reportedly brought him $ 9 million in profit.
Meanwhile, Paul's only boxing match, 25, was against his YouTube rival, KSI, in November 2019.
Paul sparked widespread criticism with his YouTube portfolio in 2017 when he posted a video showing the bodies of suicide victims in Japan. The video, shot in the Aokigahara forest, caused YouTube to cut several business ties with Paul.
Last month, Mayweather shared a tantalizing video on Instagram about the upcoming fight but without any details.
Mayweather lost six inches (about 15cm) in height to Paul, who was six feet two inches (about 188cm) tall. Tickets are priced between 25 and 70 US dollars.
