Nokia Trusts Metaverse Will Change Phones In The Future
JAKARTA The legendary telecommunications and cell phone company from Finland, Nokia, reportedly predicts the future of mobile phones that are widely used by the global community today. According to the company, the metaverse will replace smartphone positions.
The metaverse experience is supported by the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) devices. The two metaverse support devices allow many people to interact with others and carry out a number of activities in cyberspace. In addition, this industry is claimed to achieve significant growth in the future.
Nokia, one of the first manufacturers to create a mobile system, predicts the current trend of known mobile phones in the hands of the metaverse. While cell phones will still exist, the metaverse experience will be a major form of communication in the second half of the decade.
Although the Augmented Reality device still has a long way to go, Nokia believes that there will be an increasing audience interest in the device, which will strengthen this metaverse push. Nokia's chief strategy and technology, Nishant Batra believes in this.
"Our belief is that this device will be taken over by the metaverse experience in the second half of the decade," Batra said, quoted by Bitcoin.com News.
AR and VR Prices Are Still High
On the other hand, Nokia also believes that the rise of the digital world will depend on several important factors including the push the company like Meta is making the metaverse a trend. In addition, as previously stated by the executive, consumers are more concerned about price and shape than institutions.
The widespread technology adoption of both companies and consumers will be critical to really take off, and this will also depend on the availability of affordable and ergonomically connected VR and AR devices, Batra added.
In this case, the price for popular metaverse headsets has seen an increase lately, as Meta raised its base Headset cost to 400 US dollars in July. Earlier this month, the company also introduced a premium option, Quest Pro VR, which is priced at 1,500 US dollars.
However, metaverse monetization will be difficult to achieve, as companies believe there will be fragmentation, with monetization depending on the growth of different use cases for the experience and metaverse devices. Industrial adoption will be easier to achieve, as some cases of use have been explored.
Nokia predicts that all of these connectivity will create a security gap, and the company is also working to secure users in the metaverse.
