Tottenham Win The North London Derby, Silence Arsenal 2-0

JAKARTA - Tottenham Hotspur won the North London derby by silencing Arsenal 2-0 in the 11th Premier League match which took place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, Sunday local time (Monday WIB).

Son Heung-min and Harry Kane each contributed one goal in a win that sent Tottenham back to the top of the standings with a collection of 24 points, displacing Chelsea (22) who had less than 24 hours to occupy the position.

Meanwhile Arsenal (13) are increasingly eliminated to 15th place in the standings even though they still have a safe distance of seven points from the relegation zone, Antara notes on the official English League website.

Entering the match unbeaten in the previous nine matches, Tottenham appeared quite confident and were able to open the scoring in the 13th minute through a wave of mature counter attacks.

Kane sent the ball towards Son who was on the left flank, outwitting the unprepared Arsenal defense and finishing it off with a gorgeous shot from outside the penalty area into the top right corner of the net.

This advantage made Jose Mourinho's team more confident in controlling the tempo of the game without allowing Arsenal to launch attacks freely.

At the end of the first half, another Tottenham counter-attack turned out to be fruitful again when Son grabbed the Arsenal defender before returning the favor and sent a through ball which Kane finished with a powerful shot across the bar before the ball tore into the net.

The goal made Kane now the top scorer for the North London Derbi with a collection of 11 goals leaving Emmanuel Adebayor and Bobby Smith.

Tottenham led 2-0 thanks to their clinical performance despite only having 38 percent of the ball during the first half.

Arsenal entered the second half with an attempt to retaliate but Alexandre Lacazette's header was easily tamed by goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's chance was off the side of the net.

Lloris was forced into another resounding save when Hector Bellering sent in a dangerous cross which Lacazette could find at the near post in the 68th minute.

Apart from Lloris, Serge Aurier and Toby Alderweireld also played an important role in guarding Tottenham's defense, reducing Arsenal's attacks in order to keep the 2-0 score steady until the cue of disbandment.

The next two teams will first appear in the Europa League final on Thursday (10/12) with Tottenham hosting Antwerp for the Group J title and Arsenal away at Dundalk.

Then three days later Tottenham will visit Crystal Palace's home in a mission to maintain the top position of the standings and Arsenal are trying to end the trend of not winning in the last four matches when they host Burnley at the Emirates.
