Europe Is Really Lapar', Indonesian Mamin Products Ludes 33 Million Euros In 5 Days

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) informed that food and beverage (mamin) products from Indonesia managed to record sales transactions of 33.5 million euros in an international prestigious event, namely the 2022 Paris Salon International de l'Alimation (SIAL).

Director General of Agro Industry of the Ministry of Industry Putu Juli Ardika said SIAL Paris is one of the largest food and beverage exhibitions in Europe which is held every two years.

It was stated that Indonesia's participation was the last time in the SIAL Paris 2018 edition, while in 2020 the exhibition was not held due to the pandemic.

"We recorded a total of transactions during the five-day exhibition at SIAL reaching 33.5 million, consisting of potential transactions and direct transactions at the location (on the spot). This year's transactions exceed the total SIAL Paris 2018 transactions of 14 million euros," he said in a press statement on Tuesday, October 25.

According to Putu, participation in this exhibition is one of the government's efforts to further introduce the advantages of various food and beverage products from a number of industries in Indonesia.

In addition, it is hoped that this participation can expand the export market for the participants, especially to countries that are targets for Indonesia's export destinations.

"Buyers who are interested in Indonesian food and beverage products are not only from European countries, but also from the United States, African countries, Asia and the Middle East. There is also a trade agreement, there is also a potential agreement for product development cooperation between the Indonesian food and beverage industry and partners from abroad," he said.

Putu added that his party hopes that participation in SIAL Paris 2022 can be used by business actors to expand their export markets.

The next task is so that the company can follow up on the business potential obtained during the exhibition. We hope that potential transactions can be fully realized in the future so that they will help improve the performance of the food and beverage industry," he said.

For information, the food and beverage industry sector contributed 38.3 percent to the GDP of the non-oil and gas processing industry until the second quarter of 2022.

The Indonesian government has facilitated as many as 20 food and beverage industries that occupy 20 booths in Indonesian pavilions with a total area of 202.5 square meters. These business actors promote superior products, including tea and coffee products, processed coconuts, health drinks, snacks, biscuits, processed fruit, processed fish and seaweed.
