Competing With Slack, Google Adds Many New Features To Google Chat
JAKARTA - Emojis are an interesting way for people to express themselves to a message.
Therefore, Google announced that it will make emojis more expressive and personalized by allowing people to create special emojis on Google Chat.
"Everyone in the organization can see and use a special emoji uploaded by their co-workers in Chat's messages and reactions," Google said in its blog, Monday, October 24.
The ability to react to messages from friends using emojis and create a special emoji on Chat will be launched in stages.
However, there are a few things to note in the launch of this new feature. First of all, only Workspace subscribers who are part of the organization will have access to a dedicated emoji, and they will not be available for personal Google accounts.
Admin will have the first chance to try the tool, and will of course have full control over how it works for them.
Admins can choose whether users can upload their own special emojis or not, as well as set certain people to act as emoji managers, who will have veto rights over uploads.
For the record, after setting up a special Chat emoji, you can only use it when communicating with each other, and the emoji will not be accessible in conversations with external guests.
The admin control for the release of this feature is scheduled to start today, namely on October 24. Then it will be rolled out to end users on November 30.
