Ad-supported Disney Plus Packages Maybe Not Supporting SharePlay And GroupWatch
JAKARTA - Earlier this year The Walt Disney Company introduced a new subscription package to the Disney Plus platform with advertising support in the US.
When launched today, this package is priced at 7.99 US dollars (IDR 124 thousand) per month. This price is much cheaper than ad-free packages, with 10.99 US dollars (IDR 171 thousand) per month.
Later, XDA reported that Disney Plus might stop supporting GroupWatch and SharePlay on subscription plans with ad support.
SharePlay is a feature that allows people with Apple devices to enjoy consuming digital goods together via FaceTime.
Steve Moser of MacRumors shared his findings on Twitter about strings that reflect the lack of support for GroupWatch and SharePlay at ad-supported Disney Plus levels.

"Interesting information Disney+ Basic (ad-supported rate): "Groupwatch and Shareplay are not available for accounts at ad level," Moser said in a tweet.
So, those who subscribe to this cheaper package will likely not be able to watch content with their friends remotely through these features.
However, Disney has not officially confirmed this. So, let's wait for the next news.
Following Disney's move, Netflix also plans to launch an ad-supported subscription package at a friendlier price.
The package, called the new Basic with Ads, will be priced at US$6.99 or equivalent to Rp107 thousand per month starting November 3 in the United States (US) first.
According to Netflix, this package will also be available in 11 other countries in November, including Australia, Brazil, England, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, and Spain. It is not yet known whether Indonesia is also the target.
By selecting the package, users will see about four to five minutes of ads per hour, but the video quality is only limited to 720p.
