It Is Believed That China's Investment In Indonesia Is Getting More And More Marak By Re-electing Xi Jinping As President
JAKARTA - Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia believes that China's investment in Indonesia will be better with Xi Jinping's re-electing as President of China for a term of office in the next five years. The reason, according to Bahlil, is that Chinese President Xi Jinping has had good communication with President Jokowi."I think that is a positive thing. And as soon as Xi Jinping is re-elected, the relationship, God willing, will be better with the Indonesian government because so far the relationship has been good," Bahlil said in his presentation on investment realization in the third quarter of 2022 in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday 24 October.Bahlil assessed that there was a special closeness between President Jokowi and President Xi Jinping despite his second status as leader of the two countries. He hopes that in the future the two countries can continue to work on mutually beneficial investments to encourage job creation and added value."Hopefully we can work on investment that is win-win, investment that is mutually beneficial with Indonesia. I also believe, God willing, Chinese investment in Indonesia will increase day by day in a mutually beneficial context, in a context that respects each other, in the context of how to grow together, especially in the context of job creation and added value," he said.Bahlil said that even though there was an economic slowdown in China, he expressed optimism and still believed investment in the bamboo curtain country would not be disrupted. The former chairman of HIPMI was worried that there would be political tensions between China and Taiwan."Every time there is a problem there is an opportunity. And there is a need for our sharpness in entertaining them in the context of communicating what is good so that we can unite in the perspective of what their problems are and we provide solutions," said Bahlil. Thus, he continued, Indonesia could act as if it were a partner and make the country fall in love with efforts to attract investment.
