After Winning The Brutal Knockout Against Ki Won Bin, Jeka Saragih Ready To Defend Indian Fighters In The Road To UFC Final
JAKARTA Indonesian mixed martial artist Jeka Saragih will take a short break before preparing to beat his opponent in the final Road to UFC.
The fighter from North Sumatra made sure to go to the final round after winning a brutal knockout against Korean representative Ki Won Bin in the first round of the fight at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, Sunday, October 23 evening WIB.
Saragih only needed two minutes 41 seconds to make her opponent fall. The victory ensured Saragih met Anshul Jubli from India who won over Kyung Pyo Kim in the final.
"After this I will rest for a while and then start training so I can beat my opponent in the final," Jeka said after the victory against Bin as reported by The National, Monday.
Road to UFC was launched in Singapore in June. The fight is designed to look for the best mixed martial arts talent in Asia that will compete for a contract with the UFC.
This tournament was attended by athletes from four divisions, namely flight class, bantam class, featherweight, and lightweight. Jeka Saragih himself competed in the lightweight class.
Road to UFC starts with 32 fighters, with eight fighters in each division before being divided into two for the semifinals in Abu Dhabi. Later there will be eight fighters advancing to the final and winning from each division will be offered a UFC contract.
"I am very happy because I carried out all the game plans that my coach gave me. I am very happy because I have just proven that Indonesian fighters have excellent quality," said Saragih.
Indonesia actually sent five representatives to this tournament. However, only Jeka managed to make it to the final round.
If they win in the final, Saragih will be the first Indonesian to play at the UFC, precisely in the lightweight division or one division with the Islamic Makhachev and Charles Oliveira.
