Medan Pilkada Debate: Aulia Said to Bobby 'I Haven't Spoken Yet'
JAKARTA - The pair of candidates for Medan mayor-vice mayor number 2, Bobby Nasution-Aulia Rachman, received a question about a strategic plan related to the optimization of the Mebidangro metropolitan area (Medan-Binjai-Deli Serdang-Karo).
Bobby answered the panelist's question. Even though Aulia's voice was heard about the "opportunity to speak" on the debate stage.
"I haven't spoken yet," said Aulia to Bobby on the Medan Pilkada debate, December 5.
Aulia Rachman's voice was heard clearly because of its position close to the microphone. Meanwhile, Bobby continued his exposure to the Mebidangro area.
"Today, we can see that the disaster is the failure of collaboration between Medan city and regencies. Especially the floods that we feel," said Bobby Nasution in the Medan Pilkada debate.
Ideally, continued Bobby, the Medan City Government communicates with the Karo Regency Government to detect floods early. From there, the Medan City Government can decide on anticipatory steps. Such as opening water channels/canals.
"The canal should be opened as soon as possible. It can be coordinated with Karo. Likewise, cleanliness, integrated landfills (garbage). Today, Mebidangro should not be used as cooperation that is not profitable or brings prosperity to people from other districts/cities and Medan itself. The cooperation must benefit the city of Medan,” said Bobby.
Salman responded Bobby's statement. He alluded to the central government about flooding in several North Sumatra regions, including Medan.
"As we said, the president, governor, mayor are political positions. There was a big flood in North Sumatra, which covered several districts and cities. If it was a failure, it was not a failure in Medan. But the failure of the central collaboration with the provinces, and the provincial collaboration with the city of Medan," said Salman.
"Therefore, what happen is that each of us has a working area. Medan city has a working area as well as the BWS river (river basin) under the direct control of the central government," said Salman.
