Mahfud MD Asks Paslon Pilkada To Stay Orderly And Obey Prokes

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD asked all candidate pairs (paslon) to adhere to health protocols and campaign rules. He warned that no violations should occur on the last day of the 2020 simultaneous regional election campaign.

"To each campaign team, to the candidate pairs, sanctions are still waiting if you commit a violation on the last day," said Mahfud MD in his statement, Saturday, December 5.

On behalf of the government which is responsible for handling and overseeing the 2020 Pilkada Simultaneously, Mahfud MD expressed his appreciation, because based on the report, the campaign period went well in the field.

"I express my gratitude, and I am happy because based on reports from the field, both from the Police, as well as from Bawaslu and KPU, the campaign for 71 days to date has gone well," he said.

Until the 71st day, continued Mahfud, 1520 violations had been found, or 2.2 percent of the 75 thousand activities carried out during the campaign period.

However, the violations that occurred were still on a small scale and did not cause a new cluster of COVID-19 19. A number of violations that occurred, according to Mahfud, have also been followed up.

"Everything went well, minor offenses were warned. There were 16 cases that went into the criminal realm. Because after being warned they still violated again, the second warning still violated again, eventually going into criminal. There were 16 cases but small, therefore it has never been a public concern, "he explained.

The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court hopes that on the last day of the campaign period, the teams and candidate pairs will maintain order and pay attention to health protocols.
