Brigadier's Family Lawyer J Claims To Be Improved When Reporting Allegations Of Corruption, KPK: Not True!

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) denies ignoring reports of alleged corruption submitted by family lawyer Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat alias Brigadier J, Kamaruddin Simanjuntak. The head of the anti-corruption commission is also confirmed to have never met him.

This was conveyed in response to Kamaruddin's video spread on social media. In view, the lawyer admitted that he reported allegations of fantastic corruption to the KPK but did not follow up.

"KPK clarified that the KPK leadership had met and conveyed this to the party in question. So it can be convinced that the information conveyed is not true," Acting KPK Spokesperson Ipi Maryati told reporters, Friday, October 21.

Ipi said that each report submitted to the KPK was not simply followed up. There is an initial process, such as reviews and analysis to ensure that the anti-corruption commission has the right to investigate reports.

If the report does not meet the elements of alleged corruption, the KPK will not follow up. Ipi ensures that this will be coordinated with the reporter as a form of transparency.

The corruption cases that have the right to be handled by the KPK in accordance with Article 11 of Law Number 19 of 2019 are:

1. Involving Law Enforcement Officials, State Officials, and other people related to the Crime of Corruption committed by law enforcement officers or State Officials; and/or2. Regarding state losses of at least Rp. 1,000,000,000.00 (one billion rupiah).

"Similarly, if the complaint fulfills the elements of a criminal act of corruption but is not included in the KPK's authority, then the KPK can coordinate and supervise its follow-up to other law enforcement officers," he said.

The anti-corruption commission ensures that it will work according to the laws and regulations. The appropriate public reports will certainly be thoroughly traced.

"KPK can also give gifts or awards to whistleblowers in the form of premiums in accordance with Government Regulation Number 43 of 2018 concerning Procedures for the Implementation of Community Participation and Awarding in the Prevention and Eradication of Corruption," said Ipi.

"In addition to giving gifts, the KPK also pays attention to the confidentiality of the identity of the reporter to mitigate the risk of safety," he continued.

Kamaruddin in the video compares the condition of the KPK first and now during the leadership of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. He said that he had often received praise from the leadership when reporting allegations of corruption.

"But now I'm giving several cases to the KPK, the number of which is even Rp. 300 trillion, knowing what the KPK chairman said to me, you don't deserve a prize," Kamaruddin said as quoted from a video circulating on social media.

"It's as if I'm a reward hunter. In fact, I haven't received any gifts from this country. From the past until now," he concluded.
