Apasitas 40,000 Ton Crude Tin, Smelter PT Timah Has Investasi Rp1,2 Triliun
BANGKA BELITUNG - PT Timah Tbk issued an investment of IDR 1.2 trillion for the construction of the Top Submerge Lance (TSL) Ausmelt Furnace in Muntok, West Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, to increase production effectiveness by more efficient processing processes.
"This smelter is able to process tin ore concentrate with low levels starting from 40 percent Sn," said PT Timah Tbk President Director Achmad Ardianto while accompanying President Joko Widodo to review the construction of the TSL Ausmelt Furnace smelter, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 20.
He said the investment in the construction of the TSL Ausmelt Furnace smelter which reached IDR 1.2 trillion came from the company's capital expenditure (capex) budget, to answer the challenges faced by the tin mining industry.
"Currently, the challenge of the tin mining industry is the availability of tin seeds with high levels or above 70 percent of Sn," he said.
According to him, the TSL Ausmelt Furnace work system is carried out through an automation process with a control system, so as to reduce the impact of work accidents and also work effectiveness with more modern tin processing technology.
"The TSL Ausmelt Furnace smelter will process tin ore concentrate with low levels with a production capacity of 40,000 tons of crude tin per year or 35.000 metric tons of ingot per year," he said.
He said the construction of this smelter was one of the strategic projects of the parent state-owned mining company, MIND ID. Where it is planned that this project will start in commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2022.
"We hope that the new smelter will not only encourage tin downstreaming, but also improve the community's economy and create greater jobs in the operational environment of this state-owned company," he said.
