Two Additional Suspects For Prostitution Cases In Rawa Bebek

JAKARTA - Police have arrested two new suspects in a child trafficking case who were used as Commercial Sex Workers (PSK) at Khayangan Café, North Jakarta. The two suspects were AH and H, who played a role in finding and channeling women to prostitution establishments.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus, said that based on the interim investigation, the two suspects admitted that they had several times channeled women to the Khayangan cafe. However, they argued that they had never distributed minors.

"The suspect's confession is that he threw two (women) to the Khayangan cafe. Currently, his confession is still adults, but we are still studying it first," said Yusri in Jakarta, Monday, January 27.

From the examination, suspect H was an agent providing comfort women. The police also investigated the role of suspect H, who is suspected of also supplying comfort women to a number of cafes that provide sex services in Jakarta.

"We are exploring this H for a while, because apparently he was also an agent who recruited several other victims who were none other than selling in other cafes," said Yusri.

Suspect H also has an accomplice in finding women to serve as comfort women. They work to net women in several areas by offering high-wage jobs as waitresses.

"The mode offers to be a waiter, with a salary of 5 to 6 million per month. Waiters in restaurant centers, in entertainment venues, then turn out to be different and are instead sold to dimly lit cafes," said Yusri.

Even though they arrested two new suspects in this case, the police are still hunting for other suspects. Currently, investigators are also investigating a similar case in a different mode.

"(DPO) is still there, it is still developing again. We cannot promise now, it is still (running), the team is still moving. Is it just moving in Khayangan cafe while waiting, this is still developing," said Yusri.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), Susanto, asked Polda Metro Jaya to develop the case to uncover the syndicate of selling children as comfort women.

"We will encourage the Polda Metro to continue investigating this case. So later people can be arrested who have the heart to make the nation's future children as comfort women," said Susanto.

In addition, he added, the police must reveal other parties protecting these prostitution activities. Thus, cases of trafficking of minors or similar cases no longer exist.

"In essence, we ask the police agat, in this case Polda Metro Jaya, to investigate it thoroughly. Including arresting those who participated in protecting this activity," said Susanto.

Previously reported, the case of prostitution at the Kayangan cafe in the Rawa Bebek area, Penjaringan, North Jakarta was dismantled by the police. In this place, 10 minors are used as prostitutes to satisfy the lust of male masher.

The cafe has been operating for two years. The police only raided him on Monday, January 13. This raid was carried out by members of the Police Sub-directorate Renakta (child and women's violence) Polda Metro Jaya.

In this case, six people were named as suspects. They act as pimps and seekers of women who will be used as Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs).
