Therefore, Kaspersky researchers discovered an increase in the spread of Trojans in services under the guise of a popular streaming platform.

In 2022, 35% of users face threats under the guise of streaming platforms infected by Trojans. This number is more than adware (15%), designed to display unwanted ads on the screen.

Among the most popular streaming platforms, cybercriminals are most actively taking advantage of Netflix. Meanwhile, the number of scams under the guise of Hulu or Disney+ eight times lower.

One of the fraudulent schemes discovered by Kaspersky is offering users to scan QR codes in order to win annual subscriptions.

After scanning the code, the victim is directed to a phishing page, where they are asked to enter personal data, login information to the streaming service account, and payment data.
