JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron said that in addition to the Regent of Banggai Laut, Central Sulawesi, Wenny Bukamo, there were three other people who were declared reactive to COVID-19 after being caught in a hand-arrest operation (OTT) on Thursday, December 3 yesterday.
"It's true (the Banggai Laut regent is reactive, red). Apart from that, there are three other people," Ghufron told VOI, Friday, December 4.
Furthermore, the KPK has carried out a swab test on the four people and carried out independent isolation. For those who are named as suspects, of course, they will be isolated in a special detention center.
Meanwhile, the ongoing legal process, including case investigation, will wait for them to be declared negative from COVID-19.
"The examination is waiting for them to be negative," he said.
Previously, Banggai Laut Regent Wenny Bukamo who was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a hand arrest operation (OTT) was reportedly reactive to COVID-19. This news was then confirmed by the Acting Spokesperson for the KPK in the field of prosecution Ali Fikri.
"Yes, it is true (reactive COVID-19, red)," Ali told reporters, Friday, December 4.
After arriving from the location of the arrests, Wenny Bukamo and a dozen other people immediately underwent an investigation by KPK investigators.
During this silent operation, the KPK found several pieces of evidence in the form of money in the form of hundreds of thousands of rupiah denominations. In addition, in this silent operation, the anti-graft commission task force also confiscated other evidence including bank books, check heads, and several project documents.
Wenny was arrested after allegedly receiving money from private parties or contractors working on projects in the government.
It is known that he was a candidate for incumbent regent promoted by PDI Perjuangan and paired with Ridaya Laode Ngkowe. From the information gathered, he is also the first regent in Banggai Laut Regency and was first elected in December 2015.
In addition, he was also recorded as having served as a member of the Surabaya DPRD for the 1999-2004 period.
