11 Members Of The Ngawi Pilkada Organizers Are Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - As many as 11 Ngawi Pilkada organizers were reported positive for COVID-19. This is known after carrying out the rapid test and swab test activities.

"Organizing officers who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 are KPPS and Linmas. Currently, the Ngawi task force has handled the COVID-19 Task Force and is undergoing isolation," said KPU Chairman Ngawi Prima Aequina Sulistyanti in Ngawi, reported by Antara, Friday, December 4.

He said 11 people were found to be positive after carrying out rapid tests on 17,636. From there, as many as 67 people were declared reactive.

Then, 67 reactive people underwent a swab test and the results were 11 confirmed positive for COVID-19, while the rest were still waiting for the results.

The KPPS officer who tested positive for COVID-19, cannot serve on the vote on December 9, 2020. This is in accordance with the KPU Regulation (PKPU) which stipulates that KPPS may not be on duty if it is still in isolation or is hospitalized because it is positive for COVID-19.

Prima ensured that the 2020 Ngawi Pilkada stages will continue even though 11 ad hoc organizer members tested positive for COVID-19. This is because the implementation of voting at the TPS can still run as long as there are at least five KPPS officers at the TPS.

"So, we'll see first, whether it needs to be replaced or not. If there are still five KPPS officers confirmed at the TPS, then it doesn't need to be replaced," he said.

However, if the KPPS on duty at the TPS is less than five people because there are more than two confirmed officers, then replacement can be made by continuing to carry out a rapid test first to be able to serve at the TPS.

Previously, the Ngawi KPU at the end of November held a rapid test for the detection of COVID-19 against tens of thousands of KPPS, PPS, and Linmas members to prevent the spread of the deadly virus during the 2020 Pilkada Ngawi.

The implementation of rapid tests for the personnel organizing the elections is a mandate of the General Election Commission Regulation Number 6 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Elections for Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, and / or Mayors and Deputy Mayors Simultaneously Continuing in Corona Non-Natural Disaster Conditions Virus Disease 2020.
