JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information through the Director General of Aptika, Samuel A. Pangarepan expressed support for the game industry in Indonesia.
According to Samuel, the game is one of the government's focuses, especially Kominfo in supporting the current growth of the digital economy.
"This is what makes the game one of the focuses of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, supports the development of the game industry ecosystem and creates initiatives that can encourage the growth rate of game industry players in Indonesia," Samuel said at the IGDX Business & Conference in Legian, Bali, quoted Wednesday, October 19.
In 2021, the total revenue of the game industry in Indonesia will reach US$1.1 billion. With this figure, Samuel stated that there is great potential to be developed. Therefore, the Ministry of Communication and Information has prepared regulations in the form of the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS).
"This is a policy aimed at providing guidance to publishers to determine the age limit of their gamers," he explained.
In addition, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics initiated the Indonesia Game Developer Exchange (IGDX) together with the Indonesian Game Association and supported by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
Program yang sudah dimulai sejak tahun 2019 ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas, kapabilitas, dan nilai produk dari para pengembang gim di Indonesia melalui academia, karier, serta business dan conference.
Through IDGX, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics seeks to improve the competitiveness of Indonesian game developers in the global arena, in order to acquire domestic and international markets.
In 2021, there will be new business cooperation obtained by game developers with a value of up to 3 million US dollars. Then, in 2022, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics collaborates with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, and the Indonesian Game Association to promote Indonesian game industry players in the Tokyo Game Show and 2K022 Games.
"Of course we are proud and hope that this achievement can continue to increase and make Indonesia a player in the game industry both at home and abroad," he said.
